The Carleton Lodge is situated at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. The renovations to the facade of the building and Skier's Plaza needed to address massive volumes of vistors throughout the seasons and attract patrons to the building by improving the flow and functionality of the patios, especially along the perimeter of the property.
Louis Poulsen Kipp LED post tops act as a beacon to the Carleton Lodge. They are located along the perimeter of the property and provide ambient light to the plaza edge. They also function as security lighting for the ski and bike racks set up around the perimeter of the Lonhorn patio, which patrons can use while at the restaurant. The post tops are fitted with dimmable LED drivers to allow the operators to adjust the lighting levels to suit the atmosphere they are trying to create within that space for events and functions. Bruck Orion Belt flexible LED light strips are located under the custom bartop and delineates the perimeter of the Longhorn patio from the public gathering space beyond.
In contrast to the bartop lighting along the Longhorn patio, 42" LED bi-directional bollards are placed within the planters to delineate the edge of the Skier's Plaza and mark the entryways to the Carleton Lodge. The bollards are made of cradle to cradle, FSC Certified Accoya wood. The choice of this material makes it structurally sound enough to handle the seasonal wear and tear of a mountain environment while also visually complementing the wooden pergola structure on the new building facade.
